Joe Kallas on Social Security:

Social Security and Medicare

Right now there is enough money in Social Security to pay recipients through 2037. There should never be cuts in Medicare in an attempt to reduce the deficit.

Social Security must be funded so that it never runs out of money. This can be done by lifting the $106,000 limit on taxable income.

Many people have nothing else than social security when they retire. There should be cost of living increase built into the system.

Medicare eligibility should be reduced to age 62.
Medicare Part D has to be changed so that there isn’t a “doughnut hole” and generic drugs are covered.

Efforts to deter Medicare fraud should be stepped up. Anyone convicted of Medicare fraud should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Medicare recipients should always be able to choose their doctors and not be forced to go to doctors that they don’t want.
