Hintz T-Shirt for Volunteers! Poll w Cell Phones Puts Dems Ahead!!

Get Out the Vote Weekend!

We may be ahead!  Much has been made of pollers not calling cell phone numbers, according to Pew Research 25% of American households are cell phone only, and they are mostly Democratic.

With this info in hand, McClachy-Marist did a new poll last week including call phones… and Democrats were up among registered voters 47% to 41% on a generic ballot. Likely voters were tied 46% to 46%.

That means we need to get all of our voters to the polls!

We will be doing just that all weekend.  Volunteer today!  We will be doing many different activities, no matter your comfort level with contacting people, there is a way you can help.

We have Hintz for Assembly t-shirts for knocking on 50 doors or making 100 phone calls (or a $25 campaign donation).  Stop down at the office – 480 N Main St, Oshkosh – to get yours this weekend!

A schedule of our Get Out the Vote efforts is here: http://www.winnebagodems.org/2010/10/help-make-1-million-calls-final-push.html - we need people to knock doors, call voters, lit drop (simply leave info at the voter’s door without speaking to them), assembly lit in the office, donate food for volunteers and more.

Stop down at the Winnebago Dems office – 480 N Main St, Oshkosh and volunteer today.

And on an entertaining note, did you ever wonder what happened to Gordon’s old van?  The people who purchased it put a video on Youtube, and we have it here: http://www.winnebagodems.org/2010/10/whatever-happened-to-gordons-old-van.html

We can and will with the election on Tuesday, but we need your efforts and support! Volunteer today.

Some Things You Should Know About Early Voting ….

Some Things You Should Know About Early Voting ….

Here in Wisconsin, you have the opportunity to vote early and to do so- all you need to do is visit your local municipal clerk’s office. You can find your municipal clerk’s office by CLICKING HERE.

Why vote Early?

By voting early, you can avoid the long lines on Nov. 2nd and feel confident that you have cast your vote for Tom Barrett, Russ Feingold and other Dem candidates before the Nov. 2nd mid-term elections.

Further, after casting your early vote, you are then able to help Democratic campaigns in your area. We need your help to get fellow Dems to the polls to make sure that we win on Nov. 2nd.

Please note, you are able to early vote until 5:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 1. (If you are planning to vote later in the day, or on the weekend, please call the municipal clerk’s office before you go so you know the times that they are open till).

You can find your municipal clerk’s office by CLICK HERE.

Vote early today and help your fellow Dems on election day.

Tom Barrett, The Right Choice for Wisconsin

Tom Barrett, The Right Choice for Wisconsin

With 5 days left till the election, it is important more than ever to vote early to help get Tom Barrett elected as our next governor of Wisconsin. The race is closer than ever, and with every bit of extra help, Tom Barrett will be our next governor.

Tom has been very busy while on the campaign trail and he is fighting the good fight. He has been traveling around the state talking about his plans to get Wisconsin families working again, putting state government on a diet, and protecting the people of Wisconsin when it comes to health insurance and education.

When it comes to jobs, Tom has straight talk and honest plans to tackle our challenges and move Wisconsin forward. There is no more important issue in this campaign than getting WI working, and Barrett will fight for jobs. He is the only candidate with a real plan to create jobs. Tom has a 67 page plan that outlines specific, detailed ideas and policies to help create jobs. Tom will focus on manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, and high-tech companies.

Further, Tom has made education a priority in his campaign because it is the key to creating jobs, growing business, and bringing a successful future to Wisconsin.
Tom understands that we must work together to make college more affordable and accessible for Wisconsin’s working and middle class families. Tom has four children who have attended public schools and his wife, Kris, is a teacher. To get Wisconsin working again, we must make a commitment to our community colleges, technical schools, and four-year universities to educate our children and retrain our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow.

His opponent, Scott Walker, is too extreme and out of touch with the hard working families of Wisconsin. Walker has no real jobs plan, but instead mocked Barrett’s comprehensive job plan. And instead of fighting for the working and middle class families of Wisconsin, Walker would give tax cuts to the wealthiest in the state. To finance these cuts, Walker intends to alter BadgerCare so that less Wisconsinites can access the program for preventative and life-saving health treatments. Further, he wants to cut government funding for the pioneering embryonic stem cell research that gives so many families hope.

That is why before or on Nov. 2nd, you should vote for Tom Barrett. If you can, vote early and help the Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts starting this weekend until Election Day. Together, we will elect Tom Barrett as our next governor of Wisconsin.

VIDEO: 5 Days to go ... Can You Lend a Hand?

Dear Friend,

Tomorrow we're going to start airing our last TV commercial of the election and I wanted to give you a chance to see it first. Click on the link below to get a sneak preview:
I've worked hard during this election to run a positive campaign that reflects the positive change we've helped bring to Madison and this ad is my promise to the voters to continue to make state government work work for the city of Oshkosh.

But before we can get back to work in the state legislature, we still need all the help we can get during these last and most important days of the campaign. Please join us this weekend getting out the vote. Our office at 480 N. Main Street will be open every day from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm between now and Tuesday. Stop on by and lend a hand to the dozens of volunteers who will be working to make Oshkosh a better place this weekend.

Thanks again for all you help and support.

Sincerely,

P.S.

In case you missed it, I was proud to receive the Oshkosh Northwestern's endorsement earlier this week. You can read the entire editorial by clicking on the link below:

Polls: Don't Believe the Hype - We May be Winning

From Political Wire:

Democrats Catch Republicans in Generic Ballot?

A new McClatchy-Marist survey finds Democrats and Republicans tied among likely voters in the generic congressional ballot at 46% each.

Among registered voters, Democrats actually lead by six points, 47% to 41%.

Jonathan Singer: "Digging a little deeper into the survey, an extremely interesting and important number comes out: The Democrats' strength among registered voters comes directly from the cell-only population... This data buttresses the findings published earlier this month by Pew that if pollsters are skipping cell-only voters -- exactly the type of voters who are more likely to vote Democratic -- their results may simply be too favorable for the GOP."

Help Make 1 Million Calls - Final Push for Get Out the Vote Weekend

Hello Friends!

It is time to Get Up and Get Out the Vote!

We have a few events this weekend, but mostly opportunities to talk to voters.  Democratic Party of WI Chair Mike Tate told reporters that we can win on Tuesday, and that we will do it by recruiting 4,000 volunteers, knocking on 900,000 doors and calling 1,000,000 voters.

We need you to help make those numbers.  Volunteer for Election Weekend by contacting Ann Walsh annw@wisdems.org

We have the votes to win on Tuesday, we just need to make sure they are motivated to vote.  We need you to help us do that.  Call Ann or stop by the office – 480 N Main St, Oshkosh.

Senator Russ Feingold will be stopping by the office to rev up the volunteers on Friday afternoon, followed by a debate watch party for the final Governor’s debate.

Sat, Oct 30: We will knock doors and call voters from 9am to 7pm.  This is the big day, please set aside a few hours to make a difference.  Mayor Barrett and Senator Herb Kohl will also be talking to voters in room, 202 Reeve Union, UW-O at 4:00PM.

Sun, Oct 31: We will knock doors and make calls before the Packer Game, 9am to noon.  After the game we will be calling voters and doing the first wards of the final drive lit drop.

Mon, Nov 1: Beginning at 8am, we will be on the phone reminding our Democratic voters to vote, as well as blanketing the area with a candidate and voting location lit drop.  We plan to lit drop until at least 10pm.  Please stop in any free time you have.

Tue, Nov 2: Election Day! Our day will begin at 5am, lit dropping any wards missed Monday, followed by phone calls and door knocking until polls close at 8pm.

We also need a few people to provide food and refreshments for volunteers.  If you are able to bring something down to the office, please let Ann know.

Lastly, we need 2 volunteers – one each in Oshkosh and Menasha to check bell weather polling sites at 4 specific times during the day to vet voter numbers.  If you are able to do this, please reply to this email.

After the polls close on Tuesday, stop down to watch results with your friends in the Winnebago Dems at Becket - 1 City Center, Oshkosh.  We will be in the main bar area.

Volunteer today!  Call Ann Walsh at  or email annw@wisdems.org – or stop by the HQ at 480 N Main St, Oshkosh.

Help Get Out the Vote!

Help Get Out the Vote!

Dear Members and Friends of the Winnebago County Democratic Party, we need your commitment.

The polls are close.  Russ Feingold can be re-elected, Tom Barrett can become our next governor.  …but they can not do it without your efforts.

As I write, Russ Feingold is statistically tied and surging, Tom Barrett is rising, in the margin of error, Joe Kallas performed well in debate & Gordon Hintz is once again the hardest working Rep in WI.  The candidates with the most sweat, knocks and rings from volunteers, just like you, will win this election.

Contact Ann Walsh (, annw@wisdems.org) or come to the Winnebago Dems HQ - 480 N Main St, Oshkosh and commit to make a difference this weekend through election night!

Winnebago Dems Get Out the Vote Schedule:

Fri, Oct 29: We begin with a late afternoon ‘Fire-up / Meet-up’ with Sen Russ Feingold in the late afternoon followed by a watch party for Tom Barrett’s final WI Gov debate.  Bring a friend and/or a dish to pass to the Winnebago Dems HQ!

Sat, Oct 30: We will knock doors and call voters from 9am to 7pm.

Winnebago Democratic Party Super Volunteer Bernie Faust has volunteered for 15 shifts.  We don’t expect that from everyone, but if you can give a few hours of your time, multiplied across all of the concerned Dems & friends, we will make a real difference.

Commit today, call Ann –
