Jessica King Campaign: Thank You & Come to Swearing Ceremony!

King - State Senate
Dear Jeffery,
Thank you for standing with me in this historical recall election. Together, we made history. We sent a clear message to Scott Walker and the GOP party bosses that we will not stand for their extreme, radical agenda.

The people of the 18th Senate District recalled a senator who put the party bosses, the special interests, and Scott Walker ahead of the constituents he was supposed to represent. He has been recalled because of the gutting of investments in our schools by $1.6 billion - meaning larger class sizes, less education for our kids. He has been recalled because of the raising of taxes on seniors and working families.

I cannot thank you enough for standing with me in this fight. Together, we will share our vision is to fight for working and middle class families, to provide health care for children and seniors, and to solve our state’s fiscal problems with shared sacrifice instead of tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthy.

On August 27, I will be sworn in as the new State Senator for Wisconsin’s 18th Senate District. Please join me at the ceremony to celebrate our victory together:

Leach Amphitheater
303 Ceape Ave, Oshkosh
1pm Swearing-in ceremony with Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson presiding

Once again, thank you for your generous support. Together we will keep Wisconsin a great place to work, live, and raise a family.
Sincerely,

Jess King

Thanks but no thanks, author says after Ron Johnson reads her book to kids

ICYMI: Thanks but no thanks, author says after Ron Johnson reads her book to kids

MADISON - Sen. Ron Johnson came to Madison last week for a hypocritical photo-op, reading to children at a community health clinic, one of the very clinics that would lose valuable funding if Johnson and his Tea Party cronies get their way in repealing the successful Affordable Care Act and slashing billions from vital social safety net programs.
Check out the original blog entry on Johnson's visit here at The Cap Times.
But where this really gets interesting is in the blog update, posted yesterday morning.
Jane Yolen, who authored "How do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?", one of the books read by Johnson, wrote to express her displeasure with Johnson using her work as a "prop," saying:
"He is a Republican junior senator associated with the Tea Party. And that makes me think that either he is 1. A True Believer in the Tea Party NoNothingness which frightens me or 2. Kowtowing to it for votes which possibly frightens me more. Since the Tea Party (and alas much of the Republican Party these days) are the ones behind the notions of breaking unions, throwing librarians out of their jobs, and defunding education, I think it is more than a tad bit disingenuous for such politicians to be out in libraries reading books to children who will have no libraries to visit if we listen to the Tea Party."

Greenhouse Gasses and Global Warming are good for you (and pandas)!

According to an ALEC seminar Rep Michelle Litjens recently attended...

Wisconsin legislators like Rep. Michelle Litjens, R-Oshkosh, attended the ALEC “Warming Up to Climate Change: The Many Benefits of Increased Atmospheric CO2” workshop, which informed us that plants use carbon dioxide for food, therefore, according to panelist Craig D. Idso, we “should let CO2 rise unrestricted, without government intervention” so CO2 can work its magic.
Idso is founder and former chair of the ExxonMobil-funded Center for Study of Carbon Dioxide and Climate Change, and informed legislators that “CO2 is definitely not a pollutant.” He spoke glowingly of the “CO2-enriched world of the future,” and provided a series of graphs and data that, when viewed in isolation, might appear legitimate.

Alberta Darling's Illegal Coverup

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THURSDAY, August 4, 2011

Alberta Darling's Illegal Coverup

MILWAUKEE-The Democratic Party of Wisconsin today filed complaints in multiple jurisdictions alleging that state Sen. Alberta Darling has committed multiple felonies as part of a collusion and obstruction conspiracy.

(See attached complaint.)

The complaints also name the corporate front group Americans For Prosperity, Wisconsin Family Action, Wisconsin Right to Life and the lobbying arm of for-profit education corporations, the so-called American Federation for Children.

Darling's campaign and political operation is alleged to have benefited directly from groups that are part of a loose "coalition" that is funneling millions of dollars into Wisconsin in defense of her and Scott Walker's agenda.

Only when forced by the threat of a lawsuit to release some emails that indicate coordination and collusion did Darling begrudgingly comply.  But Darling is blocking the release of records relating to a Democratic Party of Wisconsin Open Records Request that includes groups such as Wisconsin Right to Life -- an extreme conservative organization that is under current investigation for campaign violations.

"It appears that Alberta Darling is engaged in a coverup to hide election collusion," Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Thursday. "The last acts of her desperate campaign are not merely pathetic. They are illegal."

Get Out the Vote with Russ Feingold & Campaign Update!

Get Out the Vote with Russ Feingold & Campaign Update!

Please see below from Jess King’s Campaign:

---

Hey everyone, we are down to just one week until Election Day!

I also wanted to remind everyone about the two great events that we are going to be having tomorrow.

At Noon Russ Feingold will join us for an Early Vote Rally on the steps of the Winnebago County Courthouse.  After the rally we will head over to City Hall in Oshkosh to early vote. Friday is the last day to Early Vote so if you have not early voted yet please stop by your Municipal Clerk's office and cast your vote for Jessica King, you never know what might happen on Election Day and we don't want to take any chances with such an important election.  If you have any questions about where you can vote early or the hours please send me an email.

Tomorrow we are going to have another great event called "6 Days to 6 Wins" at 480 N. Main St in Oshkosh.  Tomorrow we will finally be 6 days away from August 9th and Dave Hansen will join Jessica King for a short rally at 6 pm followed by a Get Out the Vote volunteer recruitment phone bank.  We still need many more volunteer shifts for our Get Out the Vote Weekend, August 6th - 9th so this will be a great chance to sign people up.  It is a potluck so we will have food and Craig the Acoustikat will be joining us for the event to play some union protest songs.

We still need many more shifts filled for our GOTV weekend.

For GOTV weekend shifts start at:
Saturday 8/6: 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm & 6 pm
Sunday 8/7: 12 pm, 3 pm & 6 pm
Monday 8/8: 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm & 6 pm
Tuesday 8/9: 6 am, 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm & 6 pm

Please let me know what shifts you will be able to make it in for as soon as possible.  We are trying to allocate resources properly and have all of our different staging locations properly organized for GOTV weekend.  With the number of people coming in, we need to make sure we can handle the capacity properly.  Please give me a call at 920 664 2417 or send me an email.

Food for the Office:
Also a reminder, we want to provide meals to our volunteers through the final days of the campaign. Please let me know if you are able to help out and shoot me an email with the item, and anticipated time you will stop by with your generous contribution.
