No Time for Jobs, But Plenty of Time for Right-Wing Social Engineering

No Time for Jobs, But Plenty of Time for Right-Wing Social Engineering

Scott Walker Republicans Engineer Abortion Vote

MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response to the Senate vote to limit insurance coverage of women's reproductive health.

"Without a real jobs agenda and with unemployment rising, the Senate Republicans went back to the only thing they really are good at-right-wing social engineering. This time, in lieu of jobs legislation, they chose to demagogue on the abortion issue in a way that will have several hideous side effects.

Women have been the special victims of the Scott Walker Republican Party, whether it is via deep cuts in education and health care to today's limiting of the ability of women to make their reproductive choices. And this much is clear: The future for women will only get worse with Scott Walker and his Republican Party in power."

Scott Walker Travels to Iowa to Raise Sleazy Koch Brothers Cash

ICYMI: As His Recall Draws Near, Scott Walker Travels to Iowa to Raise Sleazy Koch Brothers Cash
MADISON – As unemployment rises in Wisconsin, and his legislature is in the middle of another bogus “jobs” session more focused on bizarre social legislation than with relief for the middle class, Scott Walker prepares to travel to Iowa to focus on the one job that matters most to him – his own.
Read more here.
“While everyday Wisconsinites struggle to find family-sustaining jobs and keep food on the table, Scott Walker is heading to Iowa to raise sleazy cash for corporate billionaires,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. “Wisconsin deserves to know who is funding this trip, if Scott Walker will be collecting dirty money to finance his own recall campaign and, most importantly, why he thinks its more important to raise champagne toasts with the Koch Brothers than to work on providing some relief for Wisconsin’s middle class.”

Speak Out for Good Jobs! - Hearing in Oshkosh on Monday, October 24th

Speak Out for Good Jobs!

During his campaign, Gov. Scott Walker promised 250,000 new jobs by 2015. Since he took office in January:

 More than 45,000 people lost their jobs in mass layoffs
 Unemployment jumped to 7.9%
 Wisconsin catapulted to second-highest rate of initial unemployment claims in the nation
 He killed high-speed rail projects that cost 8,491 construction and rail car-related jobs
 13,527 people were laid off for 31 days or longer

It’s clear that Walker’s tax breaks for rich CEOs and giveaways to corporations already sitting on record profits don’t create jobs and never will. We can’t afford to wait while he keeps giving money away with no timelines or deadlines for job creation and no accountability.

Fight back! Tell your legislators we need good-paying jobs, not more money for millionaires. Tell them it’s time to put money into creating jobs now.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin - The Official Recall Scott Walker Headquarters
Recall Scott Walker Now. Because Wisconsin Can't Wait

Help us reach our goal! Donate $11.15 now to help us reach $540,206 by Nov.15th!
Since the announcement to recall Scott Walker was made, our email box has been flooded with stories from working, middle-class families from across our state who are struggling as a direct result of Gov. Walker's extreme agenda.

Here are three of those stories:

"I have Lupus and my medication is very expensive. Scott Walker's cuts to health care are forcing me to chose between keeping a roof over my head or staying alive." --Christina from La Crosse

"My husband and I are turning 60, we have worked and saved all of our lives to be able to have enough to live in our small home and be able to take care of ourselves. Now that is all in jeopardy thanks to Scott Walker" -- Julie from Middleton

"I've been the sole provider for our family after my husband lost his job, but now my biggest fear is what will happen to my daughter when she is too old to stay on our health insurance.  We can't afford to pay for her and she won't be able to qualify for BadgerCare thanks to Scott Walker." -- Pam from Madison

These are the real life consequences of Scott Walker's assault on the middle-class. These are the people that literally can no longer afford to have Scott Walker as governor. These are the people that need us to take our state government back.

Will you stand with Christina, Julie, Pam and working, middle-class families from all across Wisconsin with similar stories by making a donation of $11.15 today to recall Scott Walker?

Scott Walker and his powerful special interest friends will spend millions to try and silence the voices that make up our people-powered movement.

But Scott Walker has taken us down such an extreme path and harmed so many middle-class families that we’ll never let that happen.

With your donation of $11.15 we will make sure the voices of people like Christina, Julie and Pam are heard.

Thank you for your support,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WEDNESDAY, October 12, 2011 CONTACT: Graeme Zielinski, WisDems Communications Director (608) 260-2427, graemez@wisdems.org The Latest Republican Power Grab MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response to the Republican plot to split Wisconsin's electoral votes. "The plot to split Wisconsin's electoral votes, written by a Koch Brothers corporate front group, is another bald-faced power grab by Scott Walker's Republican Party. They have sought to suppress votes and bring Jim Crow to the North, they have shut down hearings to the public, they have prevented elected representatives from making votes, they have disregarded the norms and traditions of our Legislature, they have run phony candidates, they have forged signatures, they have coordinated illegally with the corporations that fund them and now this. Splitting Wisconsin's electoral votes is part of a Tea Party fantasy that seeks power above all. This is offensive to Wisconsin's traditions and it must be denounced." Recall Scott Walker Now. Because Wisconsin Can't Wait
Help us reach our goal! Donate $11.15 now to help us reach $540,206 by Nov.15th!
After weeks of discussion and positive collaboration with grassroots activists, today comes an historic announcement.
In just a few hours, I will go live on the Ed Shultz Show at 9:00 PM CST to announce that, in collaboration with United Wisconsin, the grassroots effort to recall Scott Walker will begin Nov. 15th.
We wanted activists to be the first to hear the news because you know what it will take to win this fight.
In fewer than 37 days, we will need to organize, train and fund an army of grassroots volunteers who will need to collect more than 540,206 valid recall signatures.
Before I go on air, can we count on you to make a donation of $11.15 towards our goal of raising $540,206 by Nov. 15th?
Wisconsin can't wait. Now is the time!
