We need every membership to fund and run our state and local efforts to elect Democratic Candidates at all levels of government.
The Democratic Party of WI (DPW) is going to re-writing its platform at this summer’s State Convention in Green Bay. This process starts early in the spring with resolutions for the platform passed at the county and congressional District level.
Your membership entitles you to access to both your State (Democratic Party of WI) and local (Winnebago County Democratic Party).
Volunteer for a Campaign Today!
There are many ways to volunteer. We need people of every skill and interest level to do tasks such as:
1. Telephone Calling – we call voters to judge their support, encourage them to vote and find out what their important issues are. Shifts to call are open most times, either on our office phones or if you have the minutes, bring your cell phone!
2. Canvassing – canvassing is door knocking. We talk to voters, answer their questions and distribute candidate literature. For both phoning and canvassing, we supply you with the lists and a basic script to work off.
3. Data Entry – we need to save the information we learn by canvassing and phoning! If you do not feel comfortable talking to voters, please stop down and enter the results!
4. Lit Dropping – we will have 2 large lit-drop weekends in October. When we lit drop, we do not talk to voters, we merely drop off candidate information at their doors to inform them. This gets the information to voters and saves our candidates postage.
5. Lit Preparation – we need to make sure that our army of canvassers and lit droppers are ready to go, so before we send them out, volunteers make packets of candidate information to leave at the door, saving a lot of time for the street volunteers.
6. Greeter/Office Managers – we need people to work the front desk/entryway to the office. You would collect donations for signs, buttons and stickers, greet people and answer any initial questions they have and overall give a pleasant face to the office.
7. Cleaning/Organizing – any high traffic area, like our office is, tends to get cluttered and dirty. We need volunteers that would like to come in and help us straighten up the office and keep it looking good for the public.
8. Sign Stapling – when we get our next order of signs/wires, we will need people to put them together for us.
9. Office Supplies/Food – We can always use paper for printing donated! Also, our campaign workers and volunteers are always hungry and thirsty. If you have soda. Water or snacks to donate, please do!
